PEX Tubing Colors
Some manufacturers produce colored PEX tubing for easy identification of hot and cold water lines. Before the extrusion process, pigment can be added to High Density Polyethylene to create colored tubing. The color of the tubing doesn’t affect its physical properties or distinguish it from other types of PEX. For example, PEX-a, PEX-b, and PEX-c can all be the same color; neither of them is distinguished by its own specific color. However, you can distinguish PEX-Al-PEX from any type of PEX tubing because of its thickness.

Colors of PEX Tubing
Both polybutylene and PVC piping are grey in color. Usually, PEX tubing comes in “natural”, hazy clear, unpigmented, white, black, red and blue colors. The red and blue colors are used to help distinguish the hot and color water supply lines. The tubing is also always marked on the outside to show which standards it meets.
